We know choosing a support partner is a big decision. These FAQs will help you understand how our services work and what to expect every step of the way.
During each call, we will assess and ask if the bereaved owner would like a referral to a therapist. If they say yes, we will help them find a therapist who is able to get them in quickly. We are connected with various licensed therapists who are eager to provide grief support.
Yes. We understand every pet owner, and every family is different. We offer a culturally humble approach and meet each owner/family where they are.

We are a team of licensed social workers with experience in mental health. We have an understanding of the human emotions that come with grief. We focus on mental health and compassionate support so your team can focus on your specialty.
When there is a new loss or difficult visit for a pet owner, we encourage staff to ask the pet owner if they are interested in a support call from your dedicated support line. At that time, staff is encouraged to email a referral form to us at info@firstcallafter.com or call us directly at 616-970-9740.
If we are unable to reach a bereaved owner, we will make 3 valid attempts to reach them. If we are unable to reach them within 10 days of referral, we will send an email to the bereaved pet owner and encourage them to contact us.
Fill out the inquiry form on our website, we will contact you, and discuss services. Once services are agreed on, and a service agreement is completed, we will provide you with an email for referrals to be submitted. When we receive a referral, we will confirm receipt of referral and then begin offering support to the bereaved owner/family.
Once a referral is received, we will contact the family within 24 hours.

No, onsite visits must be used during the membership period.
A monthly subscriptions does not include onsite services, yearly memberships include onsite services. Onsite visits can be added to monthly subscriptions for an additional fee of $750.
Additional support calls can be added for $200 per bereaved owner/family. Service packages can also be upgraded.
